ABC’s School-based service offer families full-time or part-time services within partnering schools, preschools and daycares within a 5 mile radius. All therapy is individualized and done on a one-on-one setting with weekly visits by the behavior analysts overseeing the program.
School based services are available from every location to children ages 2 & up and families can combine this with home or center based therapy in order to access social, play and group instruction experiences. This combination also allows the therapist increased training and support opportunities and allows behavior analysts to often work with the patients on daily living and other goals not as easily provided within a school environment. It also allows children to receive therapy during schools breaks and closings. As Indiana’s longest and largest ABA provider with nearly 200 therapist on staff, there is never a day that services cannot be provided during the week. School based services are available from 8:30am until 6:30pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30-4:30pm on Fridays. Community outings and field trips are also available for school program children to attend, including use of the indoor therapeutic pool at the Carmel center so that every child has the opportunity for these experiences. You can also complete our inquiry form to find out more about this and our other services.
We include the whole family and school staff in our ABA programs and within the planning process. We meet with the family for an initial evaluation before services begin to gather information and seek input into the program development. We also meet with the school and their staff to create an individualized plan that both providers can work on together. Our behavior analysts will often provided service recommendations during this meeting and at the first parent/school meeting which will occur within the first 1-2 weeks of service. This meeting includes going over the assessment, program information and behavior plan if applicable. We then promote for parents and the school to meet monthly with the behavior analysts to discuss progress, program updates and any other aspects of the individualized program. We also provide tips and training during these meetings or can provide a separate consult as well so that all school staff and family members can participate.
We are “building brighter futures” from the start of the day when welcome and great each child and their teacher at their school or preschool each day with a smile. Upon arrival, each patient meets their therapist and begins their day. The therapy is broken up into sessions which include goals that parents and the school have helped create with periods of reinforcement so that each child has fun and enjoys working on their goals. It will also include sessions with the teacher and other children in which the therapist assists the child if necessary, so that can have as much inclusion as possible. Overall, we spend the first few days of services pairing with a child and continue this process each day to build beneficial relationships with each child and family. Every locations has a team leader and/or branch manger dedicated to customer service and assisting parents. More detailed information is included during your initial evaluation and within our parent manual that you will receive upon services beginning.
All programs are overseen by a behavior analyst including all behavior consulting services that are done directly with you or your child or their teacher. We strive to provide 1 hour of behavior consulting for every 10 hours of therapy provided as recommended by the international Behavior Analyst Certification Board, but it can vary based upon authorization. All of our therapist go through and become Registered Behavior Technicians as outlined by the international Behavior Analyst Certification Board. All staff go through a multi step interview process and full Indiana State Police criminal background check as well. School base services are also popular when ending center or home based programming in order to transition a child into their school and fade out our services. Please speak with the team leader or the behavior analysts if you are interested in this service. We recommend that a VB-MAPPtransition assessment be completed, which provide insightful and helpful information for transition planning.
We build each program individualized to your child as they are unique and special in some many ways. We are here as Indiana’s largest and longest ABA provider to make a difference in the lives of children and their families affected by autism and other special needs. We look forward to meeting you and your child soon to become part of your lives.
