Authorization and Billing Specialist

Location: Castleton, Indianapolis, Indiana with some Work-from-Home

Position Description:

  • The Authorization Specialist is responsible for overseeing all insurance authorization process for Speech and Occupational Therapy related activities such as initial benefit verification, pre-authorization, and account follow-up
  • Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures
  • Check eligibility and benefits verification for Medicaid patients monthly
  • Prepare paperwork to submit to insurance for client pre-certification of services
  • Maintain insurance and patient files
  • Provide support to clients regarding insurance issues
  • Verify authorizations and follow-up on pending authorizations as needed
  • Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA Privacy Rule Regulations
  • Communicate issues, info and support needs to CFO
  • Prepare various reports as needed for CFO
  • Cooperates with others to balance the workload and meet project deadlines of the department
  • Other duties as assigned, requested, and/or necessary

Qualifications:

  • This person must be comfortable with computers, general office tasks, and excel at both verbal and written communication
  • Experience with billing software
  • Technology competent, including Microsoft Office, GoogleSuite, etc.
  • A positive team player and energetic professional
  • Strong organizational habits with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to analyze/solve problems and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately given the circumstances of the situation and audience involved
  • Discretion in matters that need to remain private
  • Ability to work with a variety of people, both internal and external

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
